The caste system has been utilized within Hinduism Since its enticement 5,000 years ago. In terms of its impact within Indian society it would have delivered more damage rather than good, it can be held comparable to the slave system of the western world. No doubt the theory of castes was a well innovative idea of the Vedic society; the upper castes found it rather convenient to preserve and maintain their social and religious distinctions and political and economic advantage through the caste system as class was highly segregated.
The caste system may have been deemed valid within ancient times, however how does it reflect on modern values of Indians and those wishing to sway away from this much like dictatorship system which does not practice the modern views of democracy, fundamental rights and individual freedom. More so with the rise of secularism how does Hinduism and its believers still practice rituals such as stages of life and afterlife which are essential to the Hindu caste system.
